website issues

We'll be posting something more comprehensive here soon. But for now, suffice to say that we will never sell or give away any personally identifiable information, unless required to do so by law. It's up to you whether you make your email address or other personal information to be visible on this site. If you do so, that's up to you.

To run the site, we do use cookies and gather aggregate information to manage and optimize database usage, traffic patterns, etc., and may make that aggregate information available to other parties. No personal information will be released for such purposes.

In general, though, this is the net, not your private livingroom. People can and do intercept web traffic, including non-secure web data and email, so don't be posting your social security number or banking info, even in "private" messaging.

We will have more detailed information posted here soon. We reserve the right to change our policy at any time -- except for the part about personally identifiable information, which will not change as long as we're in charge.

Some housekeeping notes: mediagirl.org is a newborn, and like any baby, it will sometimes squawk or cry or cough things up. But it's hoped it will grow bigger and smarter very quickly, and charm us all. If you have any ideas for site features or suggestions on how to administer and highlight content, we would love to hear them.

At any rate, the site is up and running. Please feel free to poke around, find a comfy spot and enjoy yourself.
