Very Sad and Tragic

My son was there for Operation Baton Rouge. He was a mortar with the 1-18th out of FOB Summerall. He is out of the military now, and doesn't talk about many things. But he did say that he was relieved to discover that the targets he was given were hit right on, and that they were proven insurgent's hideouts. No one who was innocent (children, families) were killed by his group during the offensive. There is not very much that these soldiers like to talk about when it comes to the war; they all want to get out and leave the innocent Iraqis alone, and let them rebuild their country. I pray that healing will begin for all; the Iraqis, my son, the soldiers, and our country.

Veteran's Mom, thank you

for commenting. I am glad your son is safe and back home.

And Yes, we need to bring our troops home and let the Iraqis try to heal and, if it is still possible, organise their country.

That is a hope we can all share. I'm glad he came home safe, and I hope he can find peace with what he's had to witness.
