In response to Ole Blue and the democrats chance to win big...I would like to comment about political power and who has it. As an internet radio host, I'm preparing for my show next week and the topic is power abuse in the political arena. The republican party has immense power because of the structure not the candidate. Honestly, would Bush have won on a democratic ticket?

I want to remind folks about our history. Republicans were the party of Lincoln and African Americans were loyal to that party. It wasn't until FDR's reforms did African Americans make the switch. Although the republican party wouldn't have endorsed Obama, if they had, and Obama reminded African Americans of their historical alliance with the republican party, it would be a different race. Would Obama have enough power to influence people to switch parties?

Instead of focusing on Obama/Clinton, we should really concentrate on the strength and increasing the democractic powerbase as a political structure. The republicans have a powerful segment the Christian Right, it's a movement with a life of it's own. Think about it, the republicans managed to elect a man twice whose legacy will be that he successfully created a war. That is power!
