L'Oreal's TV commercial for men and wrinkles
L'Oreal has recently launched a television campaign for a wrinkle-reducing skin cream targetted at men. Now, I had a couple of reactions to this commercial. 1) A small, mean part of me felt, "Aha! Now the beauty industry is going after men; see how you like it!" The other part of me felt like, 2) Well, maybe if men are subjected to 1/10th of the policing messages women are about their looks, there will be a bigger outrage and somehow corporations will respond and stop pulling this shit on women and men.
Isn't that sad? That I believe the only way the system will be changed is when it affects men?
Has anyone else seen the ad - what do you think?

or you could have went with option number three.
"be outraged that yet again advertising suits are trying to capitalize on people's insecurities regardless of their gender."
Hi B,
Yes, that occurred to me after my initial reactions - I just wanted to note that I went through the first two emotions first. ;)
It is appalling that the beauty industry is turning to men now, trying to profit off of the same insecurities usually heaped upon women.
