Biden's proud (?) declaration of Delaware's slavery heritage

Those of us old enough will remember that Joe Biden dropped out of a presidential bid when he was found to have plagiarized British Labor party leader Neil Kinnock in his speeches. But one has to wonder if he's better off making stuff up off the cuff....

"Better than anybody else," Biden said, when asked on "Fox News Sunday" to rate his chances of winning Southern states.

"You don't know my state," he said. "My state was a slave state. My state is a border state. My state has the eighth-largest black population in the country. My state is anything from a Northeast liberal state."
In other words, a Democrat is electable to the White House only if he stands on the bloody ground of slavery past? What is he trying to do, get in good with the bigots? Or is he just rationalizing their support.

At least he can be confident of the support of the banking lobby.
