Wingnut depravity posing as indignation

In doing a little clicking around on Technorati, I looked at the top search of the hour: Murtha.

And it was revealing indeed....

Chapomatic (gmapalumni .org/chapomatic/?p=1334):

Marines never cut and run.

Not if I’m driving the bus to get them there.

A man who is prepared to die for something will not enjoy being told that what he’s prepared to do, or already done, is worthless.

I believe this is called the ostrich strategy -- pretend the truth doesn't exist.

Schadenfreude (schadenfreude.cogitox .com/archives/000457.html):

Anyway, we listened briefly to the disharge of John Murtha's fevered brain....

What are Mr. Murthas' indicators that we are failing? Why is it that only the Democrats refuse to see the positive results of our efforts in Iraq? False reporting and fabrication of facts is the mileau of the Mainstream Media arm of the Democratic party, not usually on the playlist of the empty suit bosses.

Someone tell this guy what tax bracket these multinational media corporation executives are in, and who they play golf with. Really.

Flying Assmonkey (flyingassmonkey.blogspot .com/2005/11/bombings-kill-nearly-50-near-baghdad.html):

HEY MURTHA....GUESS WHAT? NOT FREAKIN' AMERICANS YOU JACKASS!

Yeah. Iraqis killing Iraqis isn't supposed to concern us, remember? Get into the racist spirit now! (And never mind that the rationale for NOT leaving is that Iraqis will, um, kill Iraqis.)

JusTalkin (justalkin. us/archives/2005/11/entry_395.html):

All that this is about is posturing by the left in an attempt to cater to their base, the extreme left.

In "extreme left," I suppose he means the majority of Americans who think the war was a mistake from the start, and believe Bush and Co. deceived the public in the run-up.

On the other hand, John Kerry never was a Marine or "real" member of our great military. His only motive for being there was to make a name for himself for his own future success. He got his 3 and out, then rode the Hanoi Jane train to fame. He is, in my opinion, a disgrace to the uniform and the memory of all those great Americans who died across the ages because they believed in their nation and its mission of freedom.

As opposed to Bush, who bravely flew in the Texas Air Force -- that is, when he wasn't AWOL.

Conservative Cat (conservativecat. com/mt/archives/2005/11/yes_democrats_a.html):

It's pretty obvious that war critics support the terrorists: they are concerned about the way they are treated, and they have been helping the terrorists get their message out, which is that America is the enemy.

The thing is, just like liberals can support the troops while opposing the war, they can support the terrorists without supporting terrorism. That means there's really no conflict here.

So you can relax, Mr. Murtha. We aren't accusing you of being un-patriotic; we just believe you're supporting the terrorists.

Talk about someone who just doesn't get it. He might do well to read up a little on World War II history, and why, after a long, bloody and brutal war, Americans came out so respected that our enemies then are now our allies now.

Spartacus (spartacus.blogs.c om/spartacus/2005/11/time_to_cut_and.html):

There are many critics on the right who view the Murtha/Moore position as irresponsible. While I think adopting this policy would be a mistake, I don't agree that there is any impropriety in advancing this view.

No, we'll just equate Murtha with Michael Moore. Simplemindedness makes things seem so simple, doesn't it?

The List of Sicilian Messenger (journals.aol. com/usmcgunny68/TheListOfSicilianMessenger/entries/5229):

Um, the bombings of the marine barracks in Lebanon, the WTC bombing in 1993, the big one in 2001, those and more were what? Figments of the imagination? When Clinton was dropping bombs to deflect attention from the Oval Orals, what was all that? They deserved it to be sure, but where were the Dems? They were praising Bubba for taking a strong stand AGAINST TERRORISM you senile fuckwaddle.

I suppose everyone over 14 years old must seem pretty senile to him.

Power Line (powerlineblog .com/archives/012322.php):

It's galling, is it not? When someone like Murtha, who, as did I, served in Vietnam when the Democrats did, IN FACT, make us cut and run, can now espouse the identical spineless, pant-wetting, humiliating, hollow and death-dealing tactic as then.

Yeah, all we needed were a few more years of carpet bombing, 57,000 more Americans killed in action, 14 more years of war and how many more billions of dollars to win that war. Maybe. Yeah. Sure. (By the way, what happened to all those dominos that were going to fall?)

The Changing Face of America (passing_parade.blogspot .com/2005/11/marines-never-do.html):

Representative Murtha, in his old age, has apparently forgotten the Marine Corps credos of "Semper Fi" and "Death Before Dishonor."

Or maybe he didn't forget, but rather sees the dishonor in waging this war and how we've been waging it.

BradsBlog (bradsblog. net/?p=119):

Shortly after Rep. Jack Murtha made an ass of himslef by calling for the immediate withdrawal of troops from Iraq, Senater [sic] John Kerry and his pals climbed onboard with the hype. Last night, the House of Representatives voted on it. The result? IT WAS CLOSE!!! The proposal failed by the slim margin of 403-3. I have to wonder what the liberals are thinking now that it actually came to a vote and now find themselves outside looking in.

Of course, nothing makes sense when you make up your own facts. Maybe if you tuned into reality now and then, you'd learn something.

Lifelike Pundits (lifelikepundits .com/archives/001786.php):

Murtha voted against pulling out the troops after calling for pulling out the troops. This guy is a mess.

See above comment about making up facts.

And these I found from the little clips in Technorati posted in the last 3 hours or so. I'm sure there are more now, in the 20-30 minutes it took to pull this post together. They're nothing if not enthusiastic in their tunnel vision.

The great irony of their protests against democratic debate of the most important issue this country ever faces -- war -- in their defense of this boondoggle that now, ostensibly, is about spreading democracy, or something like that.

Lots of stars and stripes on these sites, too. Pretty.

If you're looking for decent conservative reactions (on most issues), I suggest Bill of INDC, James Joyner, Citizen Smash, and John Cole.
