Coffee can cause abortions - "Pro-life" activists call for worldwide boycott
Okay, just kidding about the second part. But the first part seems to be true:
Coffee drinking during pregnancy increases the risk of abortion, stillbirth and fetal deaths.
A study published in the American Journal of Epidemiology revealed that pregnant women who drank eight or more cups of coffee were 59 per cent more likely to have fetal death.
Even having a cup of coffee a day during pregnancy increased the risk of fetal death by 30 per cent.
This is not the first time that a study has indicated that drinking coffee is a risk during pregnancy. A previous study published in the 2000 issue of The New England Journal of Medicine, scientists found an increased risk of first trimester abortion in coffee drinkers.
Will we now see Target and Wal-Mart refusing to sell coffee to women? Will we see picketing at Starbucks, with pro-criminalization fanatics screaming "murderer!" at women getting lattés? Will we see war on drugs funding in Colombia come with new strings telling farmers that they cannot grow coca or coffee beans?
Will we see pregnancy test machines in cafés where women have to show their results before they can get some java?
Will we see coffee banned within 1000 yards of any healthcare facility?
Pro-criminalization fanatics, listen up: Just don't get in between me and my cupa joe.

i rather love starbucks, and when i lived in los angeles, i had a triple shot every day, without fail. due to a benign pituitary tumour, my body responds with a rather unusually round belly and full breasts. one day upon ordering my usual cuppa, the most rude barista ever said "you can't drink that, you're pregnant." To which i responded, "Can i have my tip back? i'm not pregnant at all." i'm still not sure if she cared or was just shocked at my horrifyingly selfish order while carrying nothing.
