today's blog

There are many valid points here especially about buying into the republican frames. But I rather wish that we lefties didn't fight with one another.

For example, you might say: "Here's what Marcos thinks" and cite him. And "here's what I think": and exptess your views in a straightforeward way. Then, IN SUMMARY:

What I couldn't be sure of from your blog is your own position. I would like to know that as well as what the Democrats would do about the pickle we're in. I find that the lack of any discernible program on the part of the Democrats is of great concern.

I admire your ideas and spirit. Let's not borrow the male frame as we speak out as both feminists and citizens.

Okay, but....

I question the preconception that Markos is indeed one of the "lefties." He's a Dem partisan, but it's not really clear to me why.

As for fighting, the battle is over ideas and direction, and it is being engaged by Kos over and over. I did not post this unprovoked. I feel that what he says is antithetical to the party's roots, and destructive of the party's hopes.

For some 20 years the Democrats have stood for nothing but "not Republican." That can't work, and despite his claims, Markos is advocating more of that same approach.

The Democrats have to start standing for something, and that comes from embracing and representing the majority of Americans who hold progressive values, not from attacking anyone who holds these values while saying "follow the donkey."

Indeed...

Right On Media Girl...

How many times do Neo-Dems re-invent the wheel until it's not a wheel at all?

See my recent post on this very issue:

YES!!!!!!!

You Go Girl!

Kos is such an ass on this topic. It amazes me that his opinion is perhaps one of the most widely read and unfortunately widely believed in the progressive world.

His hubris (as he puts it) is part of the problem and certainly not part of the solution.

If the media landscape has changed so damned much, perhaps he should help resurect some of those old timer progressive values.

It amazes me how a guy can draw parallels between Iraq and Vietnam, yet not draw the same political landscape parallels. History DOES repeat itself.

Even in the age of the internets.

Kos a big FU!

Media Girl you keep on keepin' on.

Unfortunately the same thinking is big in DC

The DLC talks the same talk as Kos, despite his denials. George S on This Week just last Sunday was smugly declaring that Democrats have to "move to the middle" to claim voters ... when I see the real problem is that Democrats aren't anywhere ... or are everywhere, standing for nothing.

"Go which way the wind blows," is the advice you read a lot on some blogs, though they would never put it that way. They say things like, "Do you want to be right, or do you want to win?" Well, if winning means going with the prevailing winds (of flatulence) prevailing today, then I'd rather be right.

And it's a false dichotomy.

Thanks for dropping by!
