Bush plan: have no plan

Continuing his Big Lie policy, Bush talked about Iraq tonight. His plan seems to be to have no plan. "Stay the course," he says, which is code for We don't have any other options and I fucked up, but I'm sure as heck not going to admit that to you peasants!

Applause from the military crowd was ... cordial. No surprise there, what with their facing potentially unlimited tours of duty to do what we can to minimize the damage of Bush's Folly.

Meanwhile he and his do everything they can to deny any significance to the Downing Street Memos. His repeated insistence that Iraq has anything to do with the 9/11 terrorists rings more and more hollow. Yet he smirks on.

Meanwhile, reality continues to rear its ugly head. If you want to hear some rather astonishingly frank talk about Iraq and Bush's speech, listen to the NewsHour's discussion with two generals and two political analysts (RealAudio). Perhaps one of the more telling lines is, "I"m not calling it a quagmire."

The sad part -- the outrageous part -- of all this is that Bush's denial of reality has cost over 100,000 lives, and he has no plan to change this. Sure he talks about the "why" over and over. But the how always seems to be forgotten. Bush apologists and rationalizers have said things like, If we say what the plan is, then the terrorists will know. It would be nice if our own military knew.
