Why the right-wing corporate media is good for you during presidential campaigns

You may remember how, during the Republican National Convention, the mainstream corporate media reported that there were only a few demonstrators, and that most of them were violent.

Isn't it nice to know that this was a total fabrication? Lord only knows how our democracy would have survived if we had known that American citizens numbering in the thousands were protesting peacefully in Manhattan!

We can blame these damned American citizens for spoiling our warm, fuzzy memories of the coronation of our fearmongering-less leader at the convention. It was American citizens who exposed the NYPD's "mistake" in editing videotape to make it look like the protesters were violent.

Now that liberal Commie rag The New York Times as the audacity to break omerta and rat out the patriots who lied valiantly to frame these damned American citizens with criminal charges that they were not guilty of but still certainly deserved.

For Mr. Kyne and 400 others arrested that week, video recordings provided evidence that they had not committed a crime or that the charges against them could not be proved, according to defense lawyers and prosecutors.

Among them was Alexander Dunlop, who said he was arrested while going to pick up sushi.

Last week, he discovered that there were two versions of the same police tape: the one that was to be used as evidence in his trial had been edited at two spots, removing images that showed Mr. Dunlop behaving peacefully. When a volunteer film archivist found a more complete version of the tape and gave it to Mr. Dunlop's lawyer, prosecutors immediately dropped the charges and said that a technician had cut the material by mistake.

Seven months after the convention at Madison Square Garden, criminal charges have fallen against all but a handful of people arrested that week. Of the 1,670 cases that have run their full course, 91 percent ended with the charges dismissed or with a verdict of not guilty after trial. Many were dropped without any finding of wrongdoing, but also without any serious inquiry into the circumstances of the arrests, with the Manhattan district attorney's office agreeing that the cases should be "adjourned in contemplation of dismissal."

Yet another example of a judiciary out of control! What are they doing letting these American citizens loose among our population! I bet they're not even Christians! What good-thinking Christian would question authority! What good-thinking Christian would oppose the Romans --er-- the Holy Republican Party!

Yes, the right-wing corporate media protected you from all of this, but now that Judas NYC rag has turned against the people and started telling the truth! As if the truth were truly "fit to print"! Ha!

But even more evil than the anti-Christian New York Times is Democracy Now! Run by that-that-that woman Amy Goodman, they insulted good Christians all over the country (yes, they've wormed their way into all of the major media markets, and refuse to run advertisements, too) by outrageously reporting these facts you were better off not knowing:

sex workers were recruited to entertain Republican delegates

mainstream media fear-mongering about possible protests in NYC

mainstream media focus on permits and procedures, not content

an actual round-up of protests planned

500,000 people march in anti-war, anti-Bush rally in NYC

coverage of speeches made

260 protesters arrested

400 protesters arrested as NYPD uses new surveillance and crowd-control tactics

protesters face 25-year prison terms for hanging an anti-Bush banner

poor people plan march in protest

Bush's war on women

poor people hold protest march to RNC

950 more protesters arrested in NYPD round-ups

protests to Republian plans to wrap themselves in Johnny Cash

protesters pay tribute to Fox News with a "shut-up-a-thon"

after daily events, GOP parties into night with lobbyists

unemployed workers protest with 3-mile-long unemployment line

poor conditions for protesters held in "Guantanamo on the Hudson"

Indian writer Roy describes cult-like atmosphere in Convention

Bush accepts nomination; over 1700 arrested

women protesting for peace ejected from RNC three times

GOP delegates deny there were any protests

They even have the audacity to post video streams of their coverage! Outrageous!
