Are women's rights "special rights"?

Rights of others

Many times the conservatives use a tactic that makes it seem as though people are trying to gain "special privileges when they are fighting for equality. This tactic spreads fear amongst the general population, ok I mean white males, and makes them feel as though, by giving these so-called “special privileges to certain people, their rights are being taken away; now we just need to counter this tactic.

There's more to the problem

A lot of progressives have bought into the idea that "identity politics" (a right-wing label) have destroyed the Democratic party.

Yet if the Democrats -- or any party supposedly representing liberal and/or progressive values -- stand for equal protections and opportunities, how do they address the challenges in these areas without talking about the demographics involved ... without delving into the identity politics?

Many progressives are attacking any atttempts within the movement to address women's equality and racial equality. They think they're serving the greater progressive interests, but they're really playing into the conservative frames and, thus, the conservative agenda. I find that very sad indeed.
