Bleary eyes
By media girl
Nothing like a relapse of the good ol' common cold to attenuate that motivation factor. I guess I push myself to the point of exhaustion too much.
The day wasn't a total loss. I made some good progress on a corporate logo. But I was hoping to be installing the CMS, but that's going to have to wait until tomorrow.
And so the changes here will have to wait as well.
Lots of stuff happening. Must reads:
- DKos thread on press escorts at the inaugural -- Morgaine, you were right all along. This is getting creepy scary, when a Washington Post reporter gets booted from an event for interviewing people without his chaperone. Oh, by the way, protesting is a crime now, too.
- Amanda on wingnut efforts to ban birth control -- This should put to rest any questions whether equal rights for women are at stake. This one made me fucking furious.
- NPR's Scott Simon's interview with Crooked Timber's Henry Farrell on that mystery that is haunting the mainstream media: "What the #@%*&!^! are blogs?!" -- Henry seems to equate right vs. left as pro-Bush and anti-Bush (which may or may not be a fair reflection of his real views, but that's what was implied in his talk). How sad things have gotten, where the perceived left/right dichotomy is equated purely with politics. Which brings me to....
- All the freaking out by the mainstream media over Barbara Boxer's taking a moral stand over the war and torture and the people who lied and continue to lie about it. "I was just doing my job," doesn't seem to be clear enough, considering that NPR is scratching its hollow head over that again. If you haven't seen it yet, I do recommend Senator Boxer's thank you on Daily Kos for all the support she received for her principled behavior. And that brings me to....
- This first-hand account of the latest DNC campaign event and another one, too -- This is for the heart of the party. Judging by the unofficial poll here, Dean is clearly the people's choice. But we'll see how much the people count in this thing. The DLC is fighting hard to keep control inside the beltway and points northeast.
Whew! That was more than I intended. Maybe I can put together two coherent sentences tomorrow. Now it's hot herbal tea, zinc, a bit of food, and some bed rest.
