Great post, Matsu! I have

Great post, Matsu! I have to say that I've always wondered why those who are always yammering on about how the rest of the world hates America because of all that freedom are also the ones who tend to be the most set on limiting, rolling back and plain taking away the freedom of others.

Extra points for quoting Simon & Garfunkel.

Flag-burning

I actually wrote my Congress person in part because of this post. He's a Republican though, so I doubt it will do any good. It's like you said with the frog. Little by little they are taking away our rights. I think the normal person doesn't even realize, but one of these days there's going to be an issue that directly effects them and then what??

Anyway, good post. Glad to know I'm not the only one thinking what I think...

flag burning is the start

Let's see, considering SCOTUS eminent domain ruling (in which the government is essentially ceded full control of your domicile) and the pronouncements of Super DRick Santorum and Tom DeLay that there is no right to privacy, I'm guessing flag desecration is just the tip of the iceberg. How long before the government uses eminent domain to decide what you can and can't do in a home you "own", with whom you can do it and ensures you know they make the "house rules"?
