Side note: Senator Joe Biden to run for president in '08
By apriladamson
Wow.

33 years as a US Senator; strong on legitimate foreign policy and the environment; charismatic, eloquent ... does anyone have an opinion on him as a potential candidate? Maybe it's too early to get excited about '08, but crimony! Oh, and where the hell was he in '04???

You can't knock his teeth. You could read by them. But while I like him when he speaks up and when he isn't mealy mouthed and when I agree with him, I don't find him to be all that compelling ... or all that reliable.
He voted for the Credit Card Company Welfare Bill (aka the Bankruptcy Reform that made it all but impossible for us peasants to declare bankruptcy, even due to medical bills, while it protected shelters for the rich and powerful).
Also, he had to drop out of his last presidential candidacy when it was revealed that one (or more?) of his speeches (or papers? book?) contained plagiarized passages.
It's been decades since a Senator won the presidency. I don't know. I think there are better people out there -- people who will stand for progressive values rather than political maneuvering.
Biden is to inconsistent. Plus, he's from Delaware, which pretty much means he's owned by DuPont.
We need somebody with some gonads - like Gavin Newsome or Barbara Boxer.
